Life in OTA school

A couple weeks ago my class got to lead groups for a spring break day camp held at Spaulding. The camp was for special needs children. My group was in charge of a gross motor activity so we made up an obstacle course. We had a lot of fun and I think the kids did too!

Below are some pictures of different parts of the course. All the people in blue are nursing students from Spaulding that were buddies with each kid.

This week some of us set up a booth for OT month. We handed out koolaid to anybody who would come talk to us and play our game!
Nothing fancy.

So part of our game was having the person throw a dart at the balloons. Whatever section they landed in that was their diagnosis. Then we asked them what types of things they liked to do and explained how OT would help with that certain diagnosis. This guy when asked answered, "Beer Drinking. Beer Drinking 101." Niiiice...So bless Tiffani's little heart, she went on an explained that he would need to be able to have a certain amount of range of motion in his arms to be able to bring that can to his mouth and such...all with a straight face!
YUM! I forgot how good a glass of kookaid could be!
